From November 26 to Dec. 1, 2017, my wife and I traveled to the islands of Langkawi and Penang with her family. Altogether there were 9 of us in two cars. In this picture, you can see my wife, Karin, her father and 2 sisters on our way to Langkawi.

To reach Langkawi, we drove up the North South highway to Kuala Kedah in the northwest corner of peninsular Malaysia. Karin and her family are waiting in a small Chinese restaurant for the ferry to take us to Langkawi.

The crew of the Langkawi ferry is Malay so I started talking to them in their language. When the young caption heard me speaking Malay, he invited me up to the bridge, and I spent the entire 90 minute voyage sitting beside him! We finally arrived at the small seaport of Kuah in Langkawi.

Who doesn't love to read the description on the back of a book? Below is the description that will be on the back of my novel - Shaitan!
Jim Fairchild, the new Peace Corps rep in Borneo, East Malaysia, discovers one of his volunteers in a torrid affair with a gorgeous Malay woman.  She is a shaitan, a femme fatale with supernatural powers, who can turn herself into a deadly tiger.

When the volunteer appears to have died in an auto accident and the woman disappears, Jim wants answers. His investigation leads to three CIA agents masquerading as butterfly collectors, a Malay army colonel on a mission, and Chainsaw Chan, a Chinese timber tycoon and master spy for Red China. Chan oversees a secret lab to find and train shaitans for use as super weapons against the West. The CIA wants Jim to use his Peace Corps cover to locate the spy lab.

As the agents and Malaysian colonel struggle to destroy Red China's clandestine operation in Borneo, Jim and his beautiful Eurasian bride have their own secret score to settle with Chainsaw Chan.

Shaitan will transport you into a thrilling world of unforgettable characters, exotic locations, sex, murder, international intrigue, and Malay black magic.

Cody Benjamin spent five years with the Peace Corps in both East and West Malaysia and completed his tour as the program's country director.

Below is a synopsis of the upcoming novel, Shaitan
When JIM FAIRCHILD, the Peace Corps director’s special assistant, lands in Malaysia, he stumbles into a hidden web of murder, international espionage, sex, and black magic.  In the world of Malay black magic, a shaitan is a seductive young woman who can turn into a tigress with supernatural powers.

BOB CLANCY runs the Peace Corps program in Borneo.  He picks up Jim at the airport and spends the night discussing SEAN DELAMARE, one of his volunteers, and a local woman—CONNIE DE GROOT.  Sean and Connie were lovers, but Bob believes the woman is a shaitan.

Jim dismisses Bob’s story as nonsense, but his colleague has spent months looking into Connie’s past and insists his allegations are true.  The couple’s affair ends when Connie discovers that Sean has been talking about her miraculous powers.  In a desperate attempt to find her, Sean tries to drive across a flooded river.  His body is never recovered, and Connie disappears.

What happened to Sean? What happened to Connie? Is she really a Shaitan?  To answer these questions, Jim goes on a quest to find Connie and discovers a world of espionage that he wasn't expecting.....
